Cameron Cooper Has Early Success at AAU Junior Olympics


Oak Park junior Cameron Cooper is in Houston this week for the 2016 AAU Junior Olympics. He competed in the 17-18 800m prelims on Monday along with Motor City TC teammate De'Karyea Freeman, and they posted the fastest qualifying times. The 800m finals will be run on Wednesday.

The Motor City duo didn't stop there. They hit the track again this morning to easily sweep the top 2 podium spots in the timed finals of the 1500m, being the only two athletes to break four minutes.

Cooper & Freeman interviewed after winning the 2016 SMR Outdoor National Championship in a US #1 3:23.66.
