Michigan And Ohio Athletes Represented On MileSplit 50 List

Nick Foster / Ann Arbor Pioneer

The latest MileSplit 50 subjective rankings were released earlier this week on the MileSplit LIVE show and bordering state's Michigan and Ohio are both well represented in the breakdown.

Nick Foster checks in at number eight.  The Ann Arbor Pioneer senior has taken two wins in as many starts this season.  He's ranked second in the state and twelfth nation-wide due to his 15:17.90 clocking at the Saline Hornet Early Bird meet.

           Ericka Vander Lende / Rockford

Ericka Vander Lende occupies the ninth spot in the rankings.  The Rockford senior took a resounding win in her 2018 season opener at the Portage Early Bird meet with a 17:50.00 solo effort.  Vander Lende was last year's MHSAA State Championship (LP-1) winner and she went on to compete at Foot Locker Nationals

           Adelyn Ackley / Hart

Abby Vanderkooi and Adelyn Ackley were placed at number thirteen and fourteen, respectively by the MileSplit USA editors.  Vanderkooi has taken the cross country scene by storm, producing three wins in as many outings, highlighted by her incredible 16:57.65 effort at the Muskegon Catholic Central Invite.  She's currently ranked first in Michigan and second in the country in terms of 5K performances.

Adelyn Ackley opened her season up with a 17:03.80 showing at the Benzie Pete Moss Invitational and she complemented that with a 17:23.08 clocking at the Leanna Geers Scottville Invitational.  She won both contests handily.

           Conant Smith / Middletown

The lone Ohioan on the list is Middletown senior, Conant Smith; he's stationed at fifth.  Smith's top time of the campaign is his 15:38.70 first place performance at the Bob Schul Invitational on August 25th.

He followed that up with his second consecutive victory at the Mason Invitational, where he posted a time of 15:47.60 under highly adverse weather conditions.
