School records, career marks, and a slew of rookie debuts marked the season opening meet for the Titan women's track and field team on Friday night at Notre Dame's Annual Blue & Gold meet.

Junior Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI/Belleville) was the recorder breaker on the team as the sprinter earned second in the 400-meters in 57.81. The previous UDM mark was set in 1997 by Nicole Callaway's 57.83. She then teamed with senior Megan Miller (Zanesville, OH/Zanesville) and sophomores Susan Kalkstein (New Kensington, PA/Burrell) and Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON/St. Theresa Catholic) on the 4x400-meter relay anchoring the team to a third-place finish in 4:05.55.

Senior Brittany Horne (Okemos, MI/Okemos) was the lone winner for the Titans on the day with a personal best 17.10m toss in the weight, the third best in school history, as well as taking fourth in the shot put with an indoor PR of 13.10m.

Kalkstein was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.88m, while also leading a trio of Titans in the long jump with a fifth-place leap of 4.96m. Freshman Katie Weishaar (Plymouth, MI/Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard) led a large group of distance runners in the 1000m with a fifth-place effort in 3:04.26, a time that is now fifth in UDM annals as well as a December Titan record. Senior Jennifer DeFauw (Harper Woods, MI/Grosse Pointe North) was fifth in the event with a career time of 3:05.47, the sixth best run ever by a Titan, while freshman Tressanique Hampton (Flint, MI/Southwestern Academy) in her rookie debut earned the 10th best all-time UDM time with a 3:08.20.

In the 500m, Miller came away with a December record 1:20.30 earning fifth in the process, while Schinske was ninth in 1:24.00 and freshman Olivia Smid (Ann Arbor, MI/Whitmore Lake) set a UDM rookie indoor record with a time of 1:25.85.

Freshmen Amanda Hollern (Grand Rapids, MI/Catholic Central) and Nikia Duncan (Murrieta, CA/Murrieta) were neck and neck in two races as Hollern was sixth both the 60m (8.21) and 200m (27.23), while Duncan was right behind her in both events taking seventh in the 60m (8.22) and 200m (27.24). Soule also provided a rookie spark in the 200 with a fifth-place finish crossing the finish line in 27.20.
