DeFauw, Kalkstein Take Home Weekly HL Honors

For the second time in three weeks, the Detroit Titans women's track and field team took home both Horizon League Athlete of the Week awards as senior Jennifer DeFauw (Harper Woods, MI/Grosse Pointe North) and sophomore Susan Kalkstein (New Kensington, PA/Burrell) were honored, announced the conference office.

DeFauw was tabbed the Track Athlete of the Week after putting her name in the Titan record books with a fourth-place finish in the 600-meters in 1:39.41 at the Grand Valley State Holiday Open, a time that now stands sixth in school history. She also ran a leg on the 4x400-meter relay that posted a time of 4:07.84, good for fourth as well.

Kalkstein was the Field AOW after winning the triple jump with a 10.74m/35'3" mark. She then claimed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 4.98m/16' 4.25" and also took part in the 4x400m.

Both student-athletes received the accolade for the first time in their career.

The Titans will have a few weeks off before returning to action on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Bowling Green State Open.
