After a few weeks off, the UDM men's and women's track and field teams returned to school just in time to catch a thrilling Titan basketball game. After moving back into the dorms for the spring semester, the team got together for its first practice inside Calihan Hall.

For some Titans, the break was cut short even earlier as a number of runners participated at Grand Valley State's and Eastern Michigan's Open Invitational.

On Friday at GVSU, senior Alex Gould (Comstock Park, MI/Comstock Park) hit a personal record with a time of 8:56.67 in the 3000m, good for fifth place. Junior Ryan Ayala (Coopersville, MI/Coopersville) also ran in the race placing ninth in 9:05.08.

Saturday's EMU open saw sophomore Aviram Campbell (Yale, MI/Yale) earn fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in a career best 8.42. Sophomore Vushaun Landrum (Windsor, ON/Sandwich Secondary) was seventh in the 60m with a time of 7.06, while senior Deonte Osayande (Detroit, MI/Wingate) was right behind him claiming eighth in 7.14.

The women saw freshman Tressanique Hampton (Flint, MI/Southwestern Academy) take seventh in the 800m in a time of 2:33.64 and eighth in the 400m with a 61.99. Senior Jennifer DeFauw (Harper Woods, MI/Grosse Pointe North) timed a 2:27.75 in the 800m for sixth.

The Titans will return to full team action this weekend as the men take part in a Quad Meet against EMU, CMU and Oakland in Ypsilanti, while the women will run in the BGSU Open on Saturday.
