Junior Lesley Hanna (Exuma, Bahamas/Coakley) accomplished what he needed to do as the Titan sprinter improved his chances of reaching the NCAA Preliminary Round setting a new personal record in the 400-meters on Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Hanna came into the weekend ranked 52nd in the 400m in the East a top time of 47.37, but he was able to best that with a 47.16 to win his heat and place 20th overall in the event. The top 48 times will advance to the East Regional at the end of the month.

The 200m saw another Titan PR as senior Deonte Osayande (Detroit, MI/Winans Academy) set his career mark clocking a 22.10, good for 41st overall. Hanna also ran in the event winning his heat in 21.55 for 18th, while sophomore Vushaun Landrum (Windsor, ON/Sandwich Secondary) posted a 22.01 for 38th. Rounding out the Titan field was junior Earnest Cleary (Detroit, MI/Ferndale) who fought through an injury to place 54th place in 23.44.

The last Detroit competitor on the day saw freshman Anthony Donald (Waterville, OH/Anthony Wayne) on his way to a PR, but he just clipped the last hurdle to take 39th in 55.87.

For Hanna and senior Brittany Horne (Okemos, MI/Okemos) of the women's program, they will now wait until Friday when the NCAA releases its list of competitors for the preliminary round. Horne will definitely be moving on as she ranks No. 6 in the hammer in the East region, while Hanna will see if his PR on Saturday has him in NCAA play.

The NCAA Preliminary Round will be held from May 27-29, in Greensboro, NC, at Aggie Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.
