Three Titans Run Sub-20’s At Greater Louisville Classic

Official Results

Paced by three harriers who posted personal records on the day, the Detroit Titans women's cross country team continued its strong running as UDM claimed 20th at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday.

The Titans totaled 487 points in the 5k race with three runners in the top 100.

“We ran a better race today and we are starting to put it all together,” said head coach Guy Murray.

On a course where she ran her collegiate PR a year ago, sophomore Alexandria Vintevoghel (Casco, MI/Marine City) led the way with a time of 19:28 for 52nd place.

Sophomore Katrina Oberski (Clyde, MI/Port Huron) tallied her collegiate best with a 19:42, good for 78th place, while freshman Rachel Hofsess (Milford, MI/Milford) recorded a personal record of 19:46 to take 84th.

“Katrina is running really well right now,” said Murray. “Rachel hit her first sub 20 and did a good job getting and competing to get a nice PR.”

Sophomore Sarah Martinez (Grand Blanc, MI/Flint Powers) also had a personal best on the day with a 20:34, claiming 131st in the process.

UDM will be back in action on Friday as the Titans make the short trip back to Rochester Hills for the Michigan Intercollegiate. The event, hosted by Oakland, will be run on the Katke Cousins Golf Course with the men's race starting at 3:15 p.m., and the women to follow at 4:00 p.m.
