ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Titans women's cross country team put forth a great effort as the red, white and blue ended the 2010 season by taking 32nd at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. The event was held at Oakland University on the Katke-Cousins Golf Course.

Detroit posted 997 points in the 6k race.

“We gave a great effort on a tough, hilly course competing against some great teams,” said head coach Guy Murray. “We were young with only three runners with regional experience, but we went out there and did our best.”

Sophomore Alexandria Vintevoghel (Casco, MI/Marine City) ended the year the same way she has ended every race on the season – as the top Titan runner. Vintevoghel took 170th in 23:59.25, improving on her regional time from a year ago.

Junior Kirstin Mooney (Stirling, ON/St. Theresa Catholic) set a career mark by over 30 seconds finishing 189th with a time of 24:30.01, while sophomore Katrina Oberski (Clyde, MI/Port Huron) was 204th in 24:53.64.

Finishing the scoring five for Detroit was freshman Victoria Eger's (Buchanan, MI/Buchanan) 216th tally (25:32.98) and sophomore Sarah Martinez's (Grand Blanc, MI/Flint Powers) 218th posting (25:56.54).

The varsity seven in the event concluded with freshman Rachel Hofsess (Milford, MI/Milford) placing 220th in 26:05.56, while rookie Cecilia Pope (New Baltimore, MI/Anchor Bay) was 225th (26:48.14).

Michigan State (80) edged Michigan (96) for the team title, while the Spartans' Emily MacLeod won the event with a 20:18.76 time.
