INDIANAPOLIS – Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI, Belleville) has been recognized by the Horizon League as the women's indoor track and field runner of the week, as announced by the league office on Dec. 7.

Detroit opened the season at the Blue and Gold Invitational last weekend on Dec. 3. Calhoun set an indoor personal best in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 26.28, good enough for a sixth place finish. The senior also competed in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.57.

Calhoun ended the Blue and Gold Invite by running a leg of the 4x400 meter relay. The group of Calhoun, Tressanique Hampton (Flint, MI, Southwestern Academy ), Susan Kalkstein (New Kensington, PA, Burrell) and Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON, St. Theresa Catholic) finished fourth with a time of 4:03.84. The group set a new December record for the Titans.

Detroit will return to action by competing at the Macomb Opener this weekend in Warren, Mich.
