Titans Take Third at Windsor Team Challenge

Final Results

WINDSOR, Ont. -- The Detroit Titan women's track and field team competed in the Windsor Team Challenge on Saturday. Detroit tied for third place overall with 29 points. Host school Windsor won the meet with 166 points, while Western Ontario took second (77.5 points). 

Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON, St. Theresa Catholic) led the Titans with a fourth place finish in the 600-meter run. Mooney ran the race in 1:37.59. Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI, Belleville) cracked the top-five in the 300-meter dash. Calhoun crossed the line at 40.94.

Brandee Hart (Oak Park, MI, Berkley) qualified for the 60-meter hurdle finals with a time of 9.31 in the prelims. Hart finished sixth overall with a time of 9.26 in the finals. Nicole Meisner (Huntington Woods, MI, Berkley) ran an 8.01 60-meter dash in the prelims moving her to the finals. She nearly duplicated her first performance running an 8.00 60m in the finals for seventh place.

The 4x200 meter relay team of Nikia Duncan (Murrieta, CA, Murrieta)Susan Kalkstein (New Kensington, PA, Burrell), Hart and Meisner took fifth place at the Windsor Team Challenge. The team finished in a time of 1:45.61. Detroit put together another talented relay team in the 4x400. The team of Calhoun, Megan Miller (Zanesville, OH, Zanesville), Hart and Meisner were able to finish second, posting a time of 4:03.45.

Freshman Stephanie Cuniberti (Macomb, MI, Dakota) looked solid in the high jump. Cuniberti placed second clearing 5-1. In the long jump event, Whitney Rogers (Flint, MI, Hamady) led Detroit with a leap of 17-0. Kalkstein also competed with a distance of 15-8.75.

Allyson Koglin (Port Hope, MI, Port Hope) represented the Titans in the throw events. Koglin placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 35-4.75.

The Titans will have one final tune-up by competing in the Silverston Invitational on Feb. 19 before taking part in the Horizon League Championships at the end of the month.
