INDIANAPOLIS -- The Detroit men's track and field team is currently in sixth place in the Horizon League Championships, but after a number of strong performances at day two of the event on Saturday, the Titans have set themselves up for a big finish.

The championships are being hosted by Butler at the Mike Carroll Track on the campus of IUPUI. Detroit is currently in six place with 17 points.

Senior Lesley Hanna qualified for two events on Saturday. He ran the second fastest time in the 200-meters with a 21.62, while also posting the best time in the 400m in 47.79.

Junior Vushaun Landrum qualified for the finals in the 100m (10.77) by taking third, while he also scored in the long jump placing sixth (6.52m/21-04.75). Sophomore Ja'Quan Patterson was the top Titan in that event earning third with a leap of 6.89m/22-07.25.

Junior Aviram Campbell qualified for the final eight in the 110-meter hurdles with a third-place finish of 14.93. He will be joined in the finals by fellow Titan Steven Ivanics, who was eighth in 15.19.

Campbell also excelled in the 400mH taking fourth in 54.71, a new PR and just the seventh Titan to run under a sub-55 in school history. In that event, two other Titans will run for a title and points as sophomore Anthony Donald was fifth (54.84) and sophomore Vince Lefler sixth (55.12).

Also in the 100m, senior Earnest Cleary will go for the title after taking fifth in the preliminaries in a season-best 10.91, while freshman Charles Anthony got the final spot with a PR time of 11.14, a time that stands eighth in school history.

The 400m will see sophomore Joe Raffin compete with Hanna as he was sixth in 49.93. The 800m will have senior Matt Mahler in the final after he ran a 1:54.46 for eighth in the qualifier.

Sophomore Taylor Hennrick ended his record setting decathlon with a UDM record 6,192 points, taking third in the event. It was a 1,000-point improvement from last year's as he set a personal record in seven of the 10 events.

Freshman Eric Lewis scored in the hammer with a fourth-place heave of 51.16m/167-10, a new PR and Titan rookie record as well as the fifth best throw in school annals.
