DETROIT – Eric Lewis will compete in the 2011 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He recently qualified for the meet with a distance of 184-7 in the hammer throw at the Windsor Open.

“This is a great accomplishment for Eric in his first year of throwing the hammer,” Head Coach Guy Murray said. “The meet will be a great experience for him.”

The 2011 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held from Thursday, June 23 to Saturday, June 25.

Lewis threw the 6kg hammer at the Windsor Open in attempt to qualify for the USA Junior Nationals. The 6kg is the lighter, international implement for junior athletes (U20). In order to qualify an athlete must throw 180-5.5 (55m). Lewis reached the mark by recording a distance of 184-7 (56.26m).
