Highlights

  • Senior Men's Race: USA finished 2nd overall with 52 points after an incredible final lap that saw Ben True finish 6th in 33:11 and Chris Derrick finish 10th in 33:23.  Ryan Vail was 17th in 33:42 and Bobby Mack snagged 19th place in 33:49.  Ethiopia won overall with 38 points and Kenya was bumped to 3rd with 54 points.  Elliot Heath was 30th in 34:11 and James Strang was 37th in 34:20 to round out the US squad.  The top 3 finishers overall were Japhet Kipyegon Korir (Kenya) 32:45, Imane Merga (Ethiopia) 32:51 and Teklemariam Medhin (Eritria) 32:54.
  • Senior Women's Race: USA women were 4th with 90 points.  Neely Spence led the way with a 13th place finish in 25:08.  Emily Infeld was 21st in 25:27, Kim Conley was 30th in 25:45 and Deena Kastor was 34th in 25:52 to round out the scoring.  Delilah Di Cresenzo was 47th in 26:05.  The top 3 finishers overall were Emily Chebet (Kenya) 24:24, Hiwot Ayalew (Ethiopia) 24:27 and Belaynesh Oljira (Ethiopia) 24:33.
  • Junior Men's Race: Matt McClintock was the top US finisher with his 20th place showing in 22:52.  Craig Nowak was 24th in 23:03, Malachy Schrobilgen was 26th in 23:12, Darren Fahy was 36th in 23:25, Thomas Graham was 40th in 23:27 and Andrew Gardner was 42nd in 23:30.  USA was 4th in the team race with 106 points.  Ethiopia won with 23 points with Kenya 2nd with 26 and Morocco 3rd with 66.  Hagos Gebrhiwet (Ethiopia) won overall in 21:04 with Leonard Barsoton (Kenya) 2nd in 21:08 and Muktar Edris (Ethiopia) 3rd in 21:13.
  • Junior Women's Race: Carrie Verdon was the top US finisher with her 20th place showing in 19:33.  Amy Eloise Neale (a prep from WA but representing GBR was 21st in 19:34.  Emily Stites finished 23rd in 19:37.  Katie Knight finished 28th in 19:52, Erin Finn finished 34th in 20:03, Sydney Scott finished 38th in 20:19 and Samantha Nadel was 44th in 20:30.  The top 3 teams were Kenya, Ethiopia and Great Britain.  The top 3 individuals were Faith Kipyegon (Kenya) in 17:51, Agnes Tirop (Kenya) in 17:51 and Alemitu Heroye (Ethiopia) in 17:57.

 

FSU Relays, FL

Great battle in the 3200 with Macoy (GA) 0.01 over Grant Nykaza (IL) 9:07.38 to 9:07.39.

Highlights

  • Carmen Carlos blasted a US#2 and meet record 10:15.70 in the 3200m run with a big surge in the final 800m.
  • Mac Macoy edged Grant Nykaza in the  boys 3200m by 0.01 with both kicking hard down the stretch to record times of 9:07.38 and 9:07.39.  
  • In the girls 400m Abby Hani won with a meet record clocking of 54.97 and Gabrielle Gayles was also under the old record with a time of 55.26.
  • Ceolomar Ways took the boys 400m with a time of 47.61.
  • Stefanie Kurgatt set a meet record in the girls 800m run with a time of 2:13.35.

 

Adidas Meet of Champions, CA

Highlights

  • Blake Haney (Stockdale) won the boys 1600m run with a quick 4:12.36 over Garrett Corcoran (Villa Park), 4:13.45.
  • Juan Gonzalez (El Toro) won the boys 3200m run over Tyler Hanson (Miramonte) 9:07.65 to 9:10.29.
  • Brett Moulten (Santiago) blazed the boys 800m run with a winning time of 1:51.78 over Porter Reddish (Vista Murrieta), 1:52.71.

 

Tiger Invitational, WA

Highlights

  • Alexa Efraimson (Camas) won the 800m run with a quick 2:13.63 clocking and Camas also won the DMR with a time of 12:11.10.
  • Colby Gilbert (Skyview) put up a solid 3200m mark as he won with a time of 9:04.30.

Highlights

  • Shamier Little (Lindblom) was perhaps the story of the meet, travelling last minute to compete in the 2A class, Shamier forgot her spikes.  Shamier won the 60 Hurdles in 8.60 in training shoes, then the 400m in 57.90 and the 200m in 25.15! Some unbelievable racing for someone competing in trainers!
  • Sarah Bell (Bloomington Central Catholic) won the pole vault with the best of the day, a 13-3 clearance! She also attempted 13-5 but just missed.

 

58th EMU Huron Relays, MI

Highlights

  • Grosse Pointe South girls rolled in the DMR to the tune of a US#3 All-Time clocking of 11:35.98.  More information coming.

  • Sharelle Jordan (Chandler) won the 100 Hurdles with a AZ #4 All-Time mark of 13.76.
  • Ky Westbrook (Chandler) won the 100m dash in a quick 11.47 and the 200m dash with a striking 23.64 performance.  Ariana Washington (Long Beach Poly) was 2nd in both with times of 11.81 and 23.71.
  • Chandler also upended Long Beach Poly in the 4x100m relay with times of 46.19 to 46.26.
  • Andy Trouard (Salpointe Catholic) won the One Mile run with a swift 4:09.71 clocking.
  • Scott Marshall (Desert Vista) joined the 17' club by clearing 17-00 to win the pole vault over Grant Sisserson (Horizon) who was 2nd in 16-8.
  • Paul Lucas (Mountain Pointe) won the 100m dash in 10.66 and finished 2nd in the 200m with a 21.69 clocking.  Trevon Myles (Mesquite) won the 200m by .01 in a fine 21.68 clocking.

 

Tim Cook Memorial Invitational, PA

  • Marshay Ryan (Chambersburg) won the triple jump with a new US#1 mark of 41-01.50.  
  • Sarah Firestone (Mercersburg Academy) won the javelin with a US#1 toss of 152-01.

Highlights

  • Kingwood rolled in the boys 4x400m relay with a huge US#1 clocking of 3:13.81.  Bush finished 2nd with a fine 3:15.64.  
  • Bush won the girls 4x400m relay with a time of 3:46.82.  The Woodlands was 2nd in 3:49.42.
  • Cameron Burrell won the boys 200m dash with a quick 21.17 clocking.  
  • Sandie Raines set a meet record in the 3000m run with a quick 9:35.51 clocking.  She then came back the next day to win the 1500m run in a meet record time of 4:28.79. 
  • Brigham Hedges won the boys 3000m run over teammate Craig Irvin 8:41.05 to 8:42.00.  The two then went at it again in the 1500m run with Hedges winning in 3:58.30 and Irvin 3:58.87.
  • Raevyn Rogers won the girls 800m run with a time of 2:09.40, winning by nearly 8 seconds.  
  • Alaysh'a Johnson (Spring) won the 100 Hurdles with a time of 13.98 and the 300 Hurdles in 41.52.

 

KYTrackXC.com 5k Showdown, KY

Highlights

  • Patrick Gregory (Butler) won the boys 5k with a time of 15:03.13.  Connor Sheryak (St. Xavier) was 2nd in 15:07.18 and Connor Sorrells (Barr-Reeve) was 3rd in 15:07.65.
  • In the girls 5k Gabriella Karas (Collins) separated from the rest and won comfortably with a time of 17:50.73.
