Indoor Relay Rule

After many phone calls and e-mails with people higher-up than me in the MileSplit world, it has finally been decided how relays will be handled for our state.

The official policy is that MileSplit will only allow relay performances to show in the state and national rankings IF there is proof that all relay members attend the same high school. Otherwise, the relay performances will still show on the meet page, but they will not show up in the rankings.

The Michigan Indoor Track Series does still allow "All-Star" relays (teams with athletes from more than one school) to qualify for the MITS State Meet.

MileSplit keeps rankings for every state in America, and most states do have a sanctioned indoor season where they do compete for their high school, so a relay team that picked the best kids from each school would not be fair to rank up against those other schools.

If you want your relay to be entered into the rankings, send Michael Newton at mnewton@milesplit.com an e-mail that says the names of the four athletes that ran on the relay and where they all attend school. Those athletes will be checked to make sure they all attend the same school before they appear in the rankings.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for understanding.
