Jill Feldpausch And Dave Emeott Named Coaches Of The Year

USTFCCCA Track & Field Coaches of the Year / Jill Feldpausch and Dave Emeott.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named their state coaches of the year earlier this week and Michigan's recipients were Fowler's Jill Feldpausch and Dave Emeott of East Kentwood.

Coach Feldpausch led the Fowler girls to the MHSAA State Championships LP-4 title last month in Grand Rapids where they earned 87 points.  Fowler dominated the relays, as they claimed first place finishes in the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 and 4x800 races.  Stand-out individual performers included Alyssa Vandegriff, who won the 100m hurdles (15.56) and the high jump (5-5), as well as pole vault champion Ciera Weber (10-3).

Coach Emeott enjoyed a remarkable season, as he guided the East Kentwood boys to the MHSAA State Championships LP-1 team victory.  MileSplit Michigan reached out to Coach Emeott to gain more insight on East Kentwood's success.

I was very proud of our amazing team this year!  Coming off of a season where we had one of the greatest sprinters in state history (Khance Meyers), we were not sure how it would go but the team really stepped up.  We achieved our 7th Championship in 10 years and our team excelled in the technical events. The relays, shot put, long jump and pole vault were our strengths.  Our coaches and athletes all demonstrated tremendous attitudes and we were led by All-Americans Trevor Stephenson and Job Mayhue. Trevor broke the state record in the pole vault (16-9.5) and Job ran 13.75 to place second in the 110m hurdles at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.  It was an incredible season and I could not be more proud of the staff and our athletes.  I am blessed to be able to represent such a great group of individuals.
