Adelyn Ackley And Abby VanderKooi Up For Performer Of Week


The state's top two ranked cross country runners received national recognition earlier in the week when MileSplit USA announced the candidates for their latest Performer of the Week honor.  

Abby VanderKooi and Adelyn Ackley are up for consideration along with six other elite athletes from throughout the country.  VanderKooi scored a dominant win at this past Saturday's Muskegon Catholic Central Invite with her 16:57.65 clocking.  This result represents a Michigan No. 1 and a US No. 2 for the 2018 campaign.  She won the race by well over two minutes.        

The Muskegon Western Michigan Christian freshman is two for two thus far in high school competition; she also secured first place at the Orchard View Cardinal Invitational during the opening weekend of the season due to her 17:05.10 effort.  

Adelyn Ackley got her senior year off to an outstanding start by winning the Benzie Pete Moss Invitational with her Michigan No. 2 and US No. 3 time of 17:03.80.  This is the third time she's taken the victory at this meet. 

Ackley, who represents Hart, is a two-time MHSAA State Champion (LP-3) and a Foot Locker Nationals veteran.  She owns an impressive pr of 16:54.50.
