Sequioya Calhoun breaking the 400m on Titan YouTube

Senior Brittany Horne (Okemos, MI/Okemos) and junior Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI/Belleville) were both honored for their impressive performances over the weekend as the Titan duo earned the Horizon League's Track & Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today.

Calhoun took home the award after placing second in the 400-meter at the Blue & Gold Invitational at Notre Dame. Her time of 57.81 eclipsed a UDM record. She also helped the 4x400 meter relay to a third-place finish.

Horne, the defending HL outdoor champion in the hammer, got her season off to a fast start winning the weight throw in a career mark of 17.10m, while taking fourth in the shot put with an indoor best toss of 13.10m.

The Detroit Titans women's track and field team will have this weekend off before its final competition of the year, Dec. 18, at the GVSU Holiday Open.
