YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University head women's cross country and track coach Sue Parks has announced the addition of Erin Webster as a volunteer assistant coach to her cross country and track staff.
Webster graduated from the University of Michigan in 2007, where she was a standout in cross country and track and field.
"Erin is a great role model for our young distance squad,” Parks said. “She started out as a walk-on at Michigan and ended up one of the finest runners in the history of their program. [Erin] is truly an example of someone who worked hard and persevered to become a great collegiate runner. She competed at the very highest level in collegiate cross country and track just two years ago and will be a great resource for the women on our squad."
Webster was the 2006 Big Ten Champion in cross country (20:23 for 6,000-meters) and also was awarded Big Ten Athlete of the Year honors that same year. She was also winner of the prestigious Notre Dame Invitational in 2006 and holds a best of 15:54.52 for 5,000-meters on the track. She earned All-American accolades in cross country in 2007.
In track, Webster earned All-American accolades five times and was a three-time Big Ten Champion. In 2006, Webster earned All-American accolades in the 5,000-meter event during the indoor and outdoor seasons, while also claiming the Big Ten title that season. In 2007, Webster earned All-American accolades in the 5,000-meter event during the indoor and outdoor seasons, as well as in the 3,000-meter event in the indoor season. Webster was the 2007 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Champion in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter events.
