Eagles Runners, Throwers Back in Action Friday Night

Upperclassmen leadership anchors the Eagles

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field squad will once again take to Bob Parks Track, Friday, Jan. 15, as they host a quad meet against University of Detroit Mercy, Oakland University and Mid-American Conference rival Central Michigan University.

Eastern is coming off an impressive meet in which the veteran leadership of
Gerald Gersham (Southfield, Mich.-Southfield), Clint Allen (Muskegon, Mich.-Oakland View) and Akeem Forde (Haynesville, Barbados-Colleridge & Parry School) helped the Eagles win nine individual events.

Gersham set a school record in the shot put with a toss of 62-01.25 feet, breaking a four-year-old mark. Allen did what he does best as he galloped to a victory in the 60-meter dash, only .01 seconds off of the NCAA provisional qualifier mark. In the 200-meter dash, Forde won convincingly. Allen and Forde also teamed up in the 4x400-meter dash to beat out a tough University of Michigan squad.

The quad meet Friday night is the first of three times the Eagles see the coveted "C" of Central Michigan during the indoor season as EMU will travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. Jan. 30 for the CMU Open and again in February for the MAC Championship.

Below is a detailed schedule of events for Friday's meet.
