Titan Track Back In Action

Don Wright Team Challenge Schedule

Simmons-Harvey Invitational Schedule

The Detroit men's and women's track and field team returns to action as the Titans cross the border to participate in the 27th Annual Don Wright Team Challenge on Saturday at the University of Western Ontario.

“This is a great team meet with the Canadian indoor events,” said head coach Guy Murray. “They are good events that give us a break from the NCAA events, but are good for our overall development."

The men downed Oakland, 66-62, at a Quad Meet last week in Ypsilanti, coming away with several top 10 finishes. The women scored nine points at the BGSU Challenge in a meet where UDM set six personal distance records.

The meet is dedicated to former UWO track and field star and classical musician Don Wright for his contributions to the sport and to the school. The event will take place at the Don Wright Track at TD Waterhouse Stadium.

While most of the team will be in Canada, a small group of UDM men will head to the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor. Scheduled to run is senior Alex Gould in the 800-meters, junior Pat Liederbach in the 3000m and junior Earnest Cleary and sophomore Vushaun Landrum in the 60 and 200m.

“This is an opportunity for these guys to face some deeper fields and go for great early season times,” noted Murray.

Full results will be posted on DetroitTitans.com when both meets are concluded.
