Women Wrap Up Invite with Nine Top-Three Marks

Eagles highlight weekend with 4x400 win, eight other top finishes

- After placing in the top three in four of the six events during the first day of the Harvey-Simmons Invitational at the University of Michigan, the Eastern Michigan University women's track team followed suit by posting five more top-three finishes during day two of the Harvey-Simmons Invitational, Saturday, Jan 23., to wrap up the two-day invite.


The invitational was highlighted by a win in the 4x400-meter race for the Eagles. ReJeana Marigna (Beverly, N.J.-Burlington County Institute of Technology) showed great speed as she finished second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.63. Shade St. Louis (Eldorado Senior Comprehensive (Trinidad)) and Frederike Shoenfeld (Huenfelden, Germany) finished two and three in the 400-meter dash while Christina Farrow (Detroit, Mich.-Renaissance) was third in the 600.

On the first day of competition, the Eagles were able to earn two victories as sophomore Rosie White (New Albany, Ohio-New Albany) won the long jump with a season-best leap of 18-10.75, and senior pole vaulter Jessica Novakowski (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake) cleared a height of 12-05.50 for a first-place finish. White also had a second place finish in the triple jump.

Other top-three finishers were Erv Bazile (Naples, Fla.-Golden Gate) in the long jump and Angela Scarber (Waterford, Mich.-Kettering), as she finished second in the shot put with a throw of 44-11.00.

The Eagles will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Central Michgan Invitational.
