First Day Complete At The Grand Valley State Big Meet

Grand Valley State Big Meet Day One Results

A number of personal records were set as the Titans competed in the first day of the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Friday. Both the men's and women's teams had a small number of runners take part in day one.

One of the best efforts on the day came from senior Megan Miller (Zanesville, OH/Zanesville) who posted a PR and the third best all-time 600-meter run with a time of 1:38.15, good for 11th. Sophomore Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON/St. Theresa Catholic) and senior Jennifer DeFauw (Harper Woods, MI/Grosse Pointe North) also put in good performances as Mooney ran a 1:39.36 for 13th and DeFauw a 1:40.66 for 16th.

The only other UDM athlete on the women's side to race on Friday was junior Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI/Belleville) who placed third in her heat and 15th overall in the 400m with a time of 57.97.

For the men, junior Pat Liederbach (Petoskey, MI/Petoskey) won his heat in the mile with a personal best 4:10.31, a time that gave him 12th overall.

Junior Alex Harris (Huntington Woods, MI/Shrine) hit a PR with a time of 15:07.55 in the 500m for the sixth best time in school history, while junior Ryan Ayala (Coopersville, MI/Coopersville) notched the eighth best time in the Titan top 10 with a 15:22.77.

Senior Alex Gould (Comstock Park, MI/Comstock Park) kept his PR streak alive with a 1:54.36 in the 800m for 16th place. The time was also good enough to move him fifth in UDM history and the third best indoor time.

Sophomore Vushaun Landrum (Windsor, ON/Sandwich Secondary) took 16th in the 200m in 22.34, while junior Lesley Hanna returned from a lingering injury to run a 49.14 in the 400m.

Day two of the event will get underway tomorrow, while a number of Titans will also compete at the Windsor Team Challenge.
