Men's Cross Country

Cross Country Adds Two For 2010

Coming off a very successful 2009 cross country campaign, head coach Guy Murray announced the signings of Samuel Felton (St. Joseph, MI/St. Joseph) and Victoria Eger (Buchanan, MI/Buchanan) to a National Letter of Intent. Both will race as freshmen for the Titans in 2010.

“Sam and Torrie are both great fits for UDM and what we are trying to do,” said coach Murray. “They are great students and have the potential to make positive contributions as they will both do well with the longer collegiate races.”

Felton will give the men's squad another runner to add to their already strong team after he finished his prep career as a three-time Michigan Division 2 cross country qualifier. As a senior, he earned All-State accolades after taking 16th place in the state meet.

“Sam will have his work cut out for him as we return a big and very good group,” said Murray. “I think he will be in there, but I do hope the veterans make it tough on the rookie.”

Eger joins the vastly-improved women's team as a four-time Division 3 state cross country qualifier. She was a two-time All-State honoree (2006, 2008) as well as a two-time track state qualifier in the 3200-meters.

“Torrie fits into our varsity pack and will be in there right away,” added Murray.

The Titans return a ton of talent to both programs in 2010. The men welcome back 10 lettermen and six of the top seven from the Horizon League championship scoring team, while the women return six letterwinners and four of their top five harriers.
