Eagles Take Second in MAC Quad

Two Eagles earn two wins en route to second-place finish

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team finished second out of four teams in a Mid-American Conference quad meet against Central Michigan University, Bowling Green State University, and host school Western Michigan University, Saturday, April 3, at the Jack Shaw Invitational in Kalamazoo, Mich.

The Eagles posted wins in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run, as well as other top-three finishes in the 100- and 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 400-hurdles, mile run, 3,000-meter run, 4x100 and 4x400 hurdles, javelin throw, shot put, long jump, triple jump and the high jump.

Asia Rawls was the only runner in the field to post a sub-minute 400, as she won the race in a time of 58.62. Lauren Quaintance had an equally stellar performance in her 800-meter run, crossing the finishing line in 2:13.6, one second better than the second-place finisher.

Her sister, Rachel Quaintance, was the runner-up in the day's longest run, the 3,000-meter run, as she ran a 10:35.02. Freshman standout Courtney Calka was also second in the mile, racing to a 4:50.85 finish.

Field competitior Dayna Bergman competed in four events for Eastern, finishing third in the javelin (98-09), eighth in the shot put (34-08.50), 10th in the hammer throw (146-03) and 12th in the discus throw.

Brittany Lockhart was an iron-woman for the Eagles as she competed well in five events (100 and 400 hurdles, high jump, triple jump and long jump) and scored 15.50 total points.

The Eagles will return to competition April 9-10 as the team travels to Toledo, Ohio for the Northeast Ohio Quad.
