Horne Named Horizon League Field Performer of the Week

For her performance at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Cincinnati, OH, on Saturday, where she claimed first place in the hammer throw while establishing a new UDM record, set a new personal record in the discus while placing fourth and took seventh in the shot put, Titan senior thrower Brittany Horne (Okemos, MI/Okemos) has been named the Horizon League women's field athlete of the week.

Horne's throw of 188 feet, seven inches in the hammer didn't just top the old mark Detroit mark, but shattered it by nearly 11 feet. The distance also has her ranked 24th in the nation in the event.

She also recorded distances of 140-6 in the discus for a new PR and the third-best in Titan history, making her just the fourth Detroit thrower to break the 140 foot mark, and 43-3 in the shot put to record her third top-8 finish in Cincinnati.

Horne, a three-time all-Horizon League performer, will be in action this weekend in Lewisburg, PA, as the Titans take part in the Bison Outdoor Classic Friday and Saturday.
