Women's Track Turns in Dominant Performance at Akron

Eight first place finishes for Eagles during the two-day event

AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team dominated the competition Saturday by winning the 100, 200, 400, 800, 400 hurdles, 3,000-meter steeplechase and both relay races, en route to one of its best performances of the season. EMU did so in competition against Mid-American Conference opponents Akron and Kent State among others.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Ashlee Abraham, ReJeana Marigna, Margaret White and Naomi Andre posted an outstanding mark of 45.35 seconds. That time ranks 11th in the region this season, and only 24 other schools in the nation have a top time which is higher.

The meet, which was scored as four duals between EMU and Akron, EMU and Kent State, EMU and Ashland, and EMU and Youngstown, saw the Eagles earn four dual meet victories.

Sophomore Shantavia Williams may have had the best day of any other Eagle as she won both the 200- and 400-meter dash, as her teammates finished second and third behind her in each race.

Below are the results for the EMU athletes who competed at the two-day Northeast Ohio Quad, Friday and Saturday, April 9-10.
