Senior
Brittany Horne (Okemos, MI/Okemos) won three events and seniors
Beata Gorzynska (Ilawa, Poland/Mazurski of Olsztynie),
Megan Miller (Zanesville, OH/Zanesville) and
Ashley Schinske (Paw Paw, MI/Paw Paw) all had runner-up efforts as the Titans were narrowly defeated by Oakland, 94-89, in the 5th Annual Detroit-Oakland Dual on Thursday at Titan Field.
“It was a fun day and it's always great to host a combined event,” said head coach
Guy Murray. “It was too bad the wind was in the wrong direction or we would have had some really great times today.”
The day was full of excitement as all five seniors, Horne, Gorzynska, Miller, Schinske and
Chantel Henry, were honored with Senior Day presentations. Children took part of the action in the Tommy Titan-Golden Grizzly kid's race and older fans got involved in the running of the open mile.
“It was great to see the seniors out there competing and enjoying themselves in their final home meet,” added Murray.
In the main event, Horne led the way winning the hammer (55.90m/183”05), discus (38.30m/125”08) and shot put (11.82m/38”09.50).
