Horne Wins Hammer At Penn Relays

Complete Penn Relays Schedule & Results

Senior Brittany Horne (Okemos, MI/Okemos) continues to add to her legacy at Detroit as the veteran thrower became the first Titan in school history to win an event at the Penn Relays.

Horne won the Championship of America hammer throw with a heave of 56.92m/186'-8". The toss was the second-best in her career as she finished ahead of competitors from such schools as Auburn, Indiana, LSU and Texas.

The win gives the Titan track and field program wins at two of the most prestigious collegiate track events in the country as Paul Caraballo won the high jump at the Drake Relays in 1997 and the Titan distance medley relay took home first at Drake in 1935.

Horne was also in action in the shot put, where she recorded a mark of 12.80m/42'-0", and in the discus throw where her best was a toss of 39.96m/131'-1".
