Hillsdale "GINA" Relays Results

As the UDM women's track and field wrapped up a busy weekend, junior Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI/Belleville) and sophomore Susan Kalkstein (New Kensington, PA/Burrell) each claimed a third-place finish Saturday in Hillsdale, MI at the “GINA” Relays.

Calhoun was in action throughout the day, competing in the 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash and running the anchor leg of the women's 4x100 meter relay. She notched her third-place showing in her specialty, the 400, running a time of 57.55 seconds. Earlier in the day, she clocked a time of 26.83 in the 200 to lead a Titan contingent, finishing in 24th. She ended her day by joining teammates Kalkstein, freshman Amanda Hollern (Grand Rapids, MI/Catholic Central) and freshman Nikia Duncan (Murrieta, CA/Murrieta) for a 10th-place 4x100 meter relay finish, where the squad crossed the line in 51.01 seconds.

No less busy was Kalkstein, who in addition to running a leg of the 4x100 meter relay, was also in action in the 200 meter dash and the triple jump. Kalkstein was the third Titan across the line in the 200, running 27.20 seconds. In the triple jump, Kalkstein's best mark was measured at 11.21m/36'-9.5”, the third best jump of the competition.

Hollern and Duncan ran in the individual 100 meter dash in addition to their relay effort, where Hollern was the first Titan across the line, placing 13th in 12.85 seconds, and Duncan came across in 13.27 seconds for 23rd place.

This weekend was Detroit's final tune-up before heading to the conference championships meet. The 2010 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Illinois-Chicago will get underway Friday, April 30 on the campus of Benedictine University in Lisle, IL.
