Action got underway Friday morning in Lisle, IL, on the campus of Benedictine University, as the 2010 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Loyola University and the University of Illinois-Chicago began competition with the multi-events.

Senior Ashley Schinske (Paw Paw, MI/Paw Paw) and sophomore Amanda Campbell (Lockport, NY/Lockport) were busy representing the Titans in the heptathlon. With four of seven events in the books, Schinske sits in seventh place with 2,486 points while Campbell is one spot back in eighth, having amassed 2,083 points Friday.

Schinske tallied a pair of season best performances, clearing a height of 1.43 meters in the high jump, and putting forth a mark of 9.88 meters in the shot put. Campbell had her best showing of the spring in the shot put as well with a mark of 8.29 meters.

Campbell was right on the heels of Schinske throughout the day. In the high jump she was within one-tenth of a meter of the Titan senior, clearing 1.37 meters. In the 200 meter dash, Schinske came across the line in a time of 27.29 seconds followed by Campbell's 27.49.

The heptathlon concludes Saturday with the long jump, javelin throw and 800 meter run.

Also slated to take place Friday night were the men's and women's 10,000 meter run, but lightning caused the event to be postponed until Saturday.

Multi-event competition resumes Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m., and individual events will kick-off with the 110 meter hurdles prelims at 3:00 p.m.
