ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team took a short trip down the road to Ann Arbor May 7 and 8 for a final tune-up before next weekend's Mid-American Conference Championship and turned in stellar performances in multiple events.

After severe rain and high winds halted the action of day one, it looked as though day two would also be rained out, but the weather cleared up and the Eagles were able to pick up wins in the 1,500-meter run, the 4x100-meter relay, the 100-meter hurdles and the 100-meter dash.

Freshman Courtney Calka was the first Eagle to get a win at the Paddock Invitational this weekend as she crossed the line in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:39.23. The fabulous foursome of underclassmen sprinters— Ashlee Abraham, ReJeana Marigna, Margaret White and Naomi Andre —also notched a win, this time in the 4x100-meter relay. The group, which owns the MAC's fastest time this year in the event, posted a time of 46.65 for the win.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Brittany Lockhart and Ashley Wartley finished one and two, respectively, as Lockhart's time of 14.08 was the fastest time in the conference this season in the race.

The 100-meter dash was also a great race for the Green and White as the Eagles had three of the top four finishers, including another win by Marigna as she crossed won the race with an 11.50 second time. Abraham and Wartley were the third and fourth finishers in the race, respectively.

The MAC Championship will start Thursday, May 13, and run through Saturday, May 15, in Buffalo N.Y.
