ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Kevin Lanier sprinted to a win in the 400-meter hurdles and a second place finish in the 110-meter hurdles this weekend, as the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team took a short trip down the road to Ann Arbor for a final tune-up before next weekend's Mid-American Conference Championship.
Lanier didn't let the hurdles stand in his way of victory as the senior finished the 400 hurdles in a time of 54.74, and followed up by posted the second fastest time in the 110 hurdles with a 14.32.
Ackeem Forde was the other Eagle to post a victory as he took the 400-meter dash. Forde, who already boasts the fastest time in the conference in that race, had another top time as he ran a 48.32. Anthony Bradley also had a good outing as he placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 42-08.00.
Seniors Gerald Gersham and Blake Figgins each had top-three finishes, as Gersham tossed the shot put 57-10.50 and Figgins ran the 800 in 1:56.08.
The MAC Championship will start Thursday, May 13, and run through Saturday, May 15, in Buffalo N.Y.
