Women’s Track & Field Team Reach All-Academic Honors

The Detroit Titan women's track and field program was honored as a 2010 Division I All-Academic Track & Field Team as announced by the USTFCCCA (United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association) today for their excellent performance in the classroom.

In order to receive this award the team's cumulative GPA has to be 3.0 or better. The Titans led the Horizon League with a 3.37 grade point average. Butler (3.28) and Loyola (3.32) were also named to the All-Academic Team.

A total of 151 institutions earned the distinction. Oklahoma led the nation with the highest team GPA (3.62) through the winter 2010 term. Quinnipiac was next in line at 3.58. The Big East led all conferences as 12 of their members notched All-Academic status.

Tennessee and Penn State were named as Scholar Teams of the Year in Division I for the 2010 season. Tennessee claimed 36 team points and claimed second at the NCAA Indoor Championships while the team held a GPA of 3.14. Penn State finished fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with 34 points. The Nittany Lions had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00.
