Michigan's underclassmen are shining bright. With the 2026 outdoor season underway, these athletes are already dropping solid performances in their first weekend of competition.
Boys
Freshman Alek Diaz of Saugatuck recorded a 52.93 400m this past weekend to finish 4th at the GVSU Laker Challenge-Boys/Girls Small School meet, and currently leads the Michigan 2029 class in the event.
At the same meet, Will Hulin, a sophomore out of Centreville, clocked a 2:04.95 to finish 5th in the 800m.
Girls
Dearborn Divine Child's Jordane Falvey is proving her talent early. The freshman marked 18-0.00 in the long jump and 59.03 in the 400m this past weekend to win both events at the Jim Gardiner Invite. She leads all Michigan freshmen in both events.
Freshman Anna Drauer of Lansing Catholic won the Jim Gardiner Invite 1600m in 5:44.28 to open up her outdoor season.
