The men's track & field team already had five commitments for the 2010-11 season, but head coach
Guy Murray and his staff were still looking for more talent and found it with the signing of
Steven Ivanics (Dearborn, MI/Divine Child).
Ivanics ended his prep career as a Michigan Division 2 second team All-State performer. He claimed sixth place in the 110-meter high hurdles while winning the event at the Catholic High School League Championships.
āSteven is a great addition to the program and our good young hurdle group,ā said Murray. āHe will make a positive impact on the team and give us another great student at the University. I have found that when you bring in a talented athlete that fits the University, great things tend to follow.ā
Ivanics joins an incoming recruiting class off
Charles Anthony (Northville, MI/Farmington),
Bryan Brooks (Port Huron, MI /Port Huron Northern),
Floyd Hoskin (Gary, IN/Bowman Academy),
Eric Lewis (Eastpointe, MI/Fraser) and
Jeffrey Sherman (New Hudson, MI/Catholic Central), all of whom will be freshmen and have four years of eligibility at Detroit.
