Women's Cross Country Concludes Action At Michigan Open

– The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team kicked off the 2010 season Friday, Sept. 3, at the 5,000-meter Michigan Open in Dexter, Mich.

EMU sophomore Courtney Calka (Livonia, Mich.-Stevenson) led the way, as her time of 17:42.0 was good for a first place finish.

Sophomore Morgan Churchwell (Ada, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) was the next EMU runner to cross the finish line, as her time of 18:59.25 was good for 10th place overall. Junior Natalie Webb (Allen Park, Mich.-Woodhaven) took 13th place with a time of 19:12.29, while junior Tiffany Kincaid (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston) finished 14th (19:23.27).

Sophomore Rachel Quaintance (White Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern) and senior Lauren Quaintance (White Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern) took 16th (19:42.34) and 20th place (19:49.78), respectively, rounding out the top 20.

The Eagles are idle this week, but will return to action Sept. 19, as they head to Three Rivers, Mich. for the George Dales Invitational. The event is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.
