Eagles To Head To Western International

EMU will return to Western Ontario for the first time since 2007

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University Men's Cross Country team will return to action this Saturday, Sept. 25, as they head to the Western International hosted by Western Ontario University.

The Eagles have not competed in the Western International since the 2007 season, where the Green and White scored 25 points to claim first place with five EMU runners finishing in the top ten. EMU also set a team record for lowest points scored, previously set by the University of Windsor in 2003. They also set a record for the lowest overall team time total of 161:26 for the top five runners. The previous record (161:32) was set by the University of Michigan's 1990 squad.

EMU was idle last week, after competing in the Running Fit Detroit Titan Invitational on Sept. 11. James Hughes (Manchester, Mich.-Manchester) led the Eagles with a first place finish of 20:25.0. Junior Andrew Pfeiffer (Clarence, N.Y.-Clarence) was the next EMU runner to cross the finish line, whose time of 20:51.0 was good for fifth place. Redshirt freshman Cody Chabola (Kingswood, Ohio-Edgewood) was the third Eagle to place in the top ten, clinching ninth place with a 21:02.0 finish time.

The Western International at is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., with the men's 10,000-meter event beginning at 10:50 a.m.
