Titans, Liederbach Record Impressive Results At Louisville

Official Results

Senior Pat Liederbach (Petoskey, MI/Petoskey) nailed down his ninth top 10 effort of his career and five Titan runners placed in the top 100 as Detroit earned sixth place with 256 points in the 8k Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday.

“We ran a better race, but we are still looking to put it all together,” said head coach Guy Murray. “Pat ran a good race in competing for the win.”

Liederbach clocked a 25:05 to take fourth overall and second among collegiate competitors.

Edwin Gay (Grosse Pointe, MI/GP South) posted a personal record with his first sub-26 time as the sophomore crossed the finish line in 25:57 for 34th place.

"It was great for Edwin to join the sub-26 group," said Murray. "He has been working so hard after a rough rookie year."

Senior Alex Harris (Huntington Woods, MI/Shrine) was next in line for the Titans with a time of 26:11 for 52nd place, while freshman Martin Nelkie (West Branch, MI/Ogemaw Heights) took 83rd with a 26:28 run.

Senior Kevin Smalley (Gladwin, MI/Gladwin) was the fifth Titan among the top 100 as the veteran harrier earned a PR with a 26:32 (85th), while junior Bob Radlich's (Cheektowaga, NY/Cleveland Hill) 26:46 for 106th was also a career best.

UDM will make its second of three trips on the season to Rochester Hills as the red, white and blue will run in the Michigan Intercollegiate on Friday. The event, hosted by Oakland, will be held on the Katke Cousins Golf Course with the men's race starting at 3:15 p.m., and the women to follow at 4:00 p.m.
