Eagles To Compete In Michigan Intercollegiate

The Eagles will look for their forth consecutive win

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) —The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team will head to Oakland University tomorrow, Oct. 8 to compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate.

The Eagles look to continue their dominance in 2010, as they have finished first in every race this season. If the Green and White can capture another first place finish, it would mark the first time in 13 years that a team started out the season with four consecutive wins (The 1997 squad started the year with seven straight victories).

2009 marked the last time the Eagles competed in the Michigan Intercollegiate, where they captured third place with 66 points. They finished behind Grand Valley State (55 points) and the University of Michigan (32 points). Curtis Vollmar led the Green and White, clinching fifth place with a time of 25:19. James Hughes (Manchester, Mich.-Manchester) was the next EMU runner to cross the finish line at 25:31, good for eighth place. R.P. White rounded out the top ten at 25:44.

This year, the Michigan Intercollegiate will take place at the Katke Cousins Golf Course, located at the east side of the OU campus in Rochester, Mich. The men's 8K event is slated for a 3:15 p.m. start.
