ROCHESTER, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)
— The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team took second place today, Oct. 9 at the Michigan Intercollegiate in Rochester, Mich.

The Eagles finished with 47 points, placing them behind host Oakland University who notched 23 points to win the event this afternoon. EMU placed 3 runners in the top 10. The top five for the Green and White combined for a time of 2:21:41.9 with an average of 28:20.3.

Head Coach John Goodridge did not race EMU's top ten cross country runners this weekend, choosing to concentrate on their training and providing a competitive opportunity for other team members to earn a spot on next week's travel squad to the Penn State National Invitational.

Junior Justin Huey (Canton, Mich.-Plymouth) paced the Eagles as his time of 27:25.3 earned him fourth place overall. He was followed by teammate Wes Stoody (Fenton, Mich.-Flint Powers Catholic), who finished in sixth place at 27:41.4. Nate Lonsway (Dublin, Ohio-Dubin Coffman) rounded out the top ten, crossing the finish line in the ninth spot with a time of 28:16.0.

Redshirt freshman Matt Wines (Pinckey, Mich.-Pinckney) clinched 11th place (28:21.2), while Josh George (Toronto, Ontario-Frontenac) and Nick Immell (Dublin, Ohio-Dubin Coffman) took 17th and 18th, respectively.

The Green and White will continue action next weekend on Oct. 16 at the Penn State National Invitational. The race is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
