Penn State National Invite On The Horizon For The Eagles

EMU men's cross country will compete in the Penn State National Invite for the first time in program history.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team will return to action this Saturday, Oct. 16, as they head to University Park, Penn. to compete in the Penn State National Invitational.

This season, the Eagles have already tallied three first place finishes, as well as a second place finish last weekend at the Michigan Intercollegiate in Rochester, Mich.

 (Mount Cook, Wellington-Wellington College, New Zealand) has had an impressive sophomore campaign so far this season, pacing the Eagles with second place finishes at the Notre Dame Invitational (Oct. 1), as well as the Western International (Sept. 25).

James Hughes (Manchester, Mich.-Manchester) has also been a contributor to EMU's success in 2010. Hughes captured first at the Detroit Titan Invite back on Sept. 11 with a time of 20:25.0. Teammate Matt Hammersmith (Wolcottville, Mich.-Prairie Heights) has also played an important role, landing a fourth place finish at the Notre Dame Invite and a third place effort at the Western International.

This weekend will mark the first time in EMU's history that the Eagles will compete in the Penn State National Invite. Start time is slated for a 10 a.m. start.
