Women’s XC Heads To Penn State National Invite

This weekend marks the the second time the Eagles will compete against the Nittany Lions in school history.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team will head to the Penn State National Invitational in University Park, Penn. this Saturday, Oct. 16.

The Eagles have competed in four races so far in 2010. This includes their first place finish at the George Dales Invitational back on Sept. 17. where sophomore Courtney Calka (Livonia, Mich.-Stevenson) set a course record of 20:48.20 in her first place overall finish. She has also paced the Green and White in every competition and has clinched first place three times, including a personal record time of 17:16.0 last week at the Michigan Intercollegiate (Oct. 8).

This Saturday will mark just the second time in school history that the Eagles have competed against the Nittany Lions. The previous meeting between the programs dates back to 1978, where the Eagles scored 54 points in a third place finish at Penn State's Tri-Match.

The 2010 Penn State National Invite women's 6K is slated for an 11 a.m. start.
