UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team was on the big stage on Saturday as the Titans ran with some of the best programs in the country at the Penn State National.
Detroit finished the 6k race in 31st place tallying 906 points. The event was headlined with 18 ranked teams running, including No. 1 Villanova, No. 7 Syracuse and No. 30 in the host Nittany Lions.
Alexandria Vintevoghel (Casco, MI/Marine City)
was one of four Titans in the top 200 as the sophomore harrier was the first Titan to cross the finish line taking 145th in 23:26.
Sophomore
Katrina Oberski (Clyde, MI/Port Huron) tied her personal 6k record with a 24:06 for 175th, while junior
Kirstin Mooney (Stirling, ON/St. Theresa Catholic) claimed 183rd in a career-best 24:20.
The final two of the scoring five was freshman
Rachel Hofsess' (Milford, MI/Milford) 195th-place tally of 24:39, while sophomore
Sarah Martinez (Grand Blanc, MI/Flint Powers) ended the race in 25:03 in 208th.
Freshman
Victoria Eger's (Buchanan, MI/Buchanan) run of 25:13 gave her 211th place, while senior
Megan Miller (Zanesville, OH/Zanesville) clocked a 27:03 to finish 217th.
The Titans will now get ready for the Horizon League championships on Saturday, Oct. 30. The event, hosted by Loyola, will be contested at Montrose Beach in Chicago.
