Men's Cross Country Primed For Regionals

After clinching their 15th conference title, the Eagles will head to Rochester, Mich. for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's cross country team will head to Rochester, Mich. this Saturday, Nov. 13 to compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

The Eagles are coming off of their 15th Mid-American Conference title after scoring 66 points en route to the conference championship on Oct. 30. MAC Coach of the Year John Goodridge featured two members of his squad on the All-MAC teams. Leading the Eagles was Terefe Ejigu (Mount Cook, Wellington-Wellington College, New Zealand), who was named first team All-MAC as well as the individual champion after finishing first overall at 24:08. His accomplishments marked the 18th time in program history that an EMU runner has achieved this feat.

True freshman Harry Dixon (Nelson, New Zealand-Nayland College) also landed All-MAC honors for his efforts of 25:07.5 in his 12th place performance that afternoon.

At last year's regional, the Green and White finished ninth as a team, scoring 232 points as well as placing two in the top-25. Earning All-Region honors were Curtis Vollmar (17th) and then freshman, Ejigu who took 25th after crossing the line in 31:49.98.

The Eagles placed second among all Mid-American Conference schools and second among Michigan schools, as Michigan State University took runner-up with 128 points. The Eagles bested Washtenaw County rival the University of Michigan by one spot, as the Wolverines took 10th with 259 points.

The NCAA Great Lakes Regional will be hosted by Oakland University at the Katke-Cousins Golf Course. Parking for spectators will be in the main Golf Course parking lot. Overflow parking will be located in the open field on the corner of Meadowbrook Rd and Adams Rd. Spectators will be charged $10.00 per car. The men's 10K race is slated for a 1:15 p.m. start.
