CLEVELAND, Ohio. (EMUEagles.com) — The Mid-American Conference announced today, Dec. 14, that juniors
Beverly Elcock and
Angela Scarber were the winners of the the weekly MAC Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Dec. 11.
Elcock won the Track Athlete of the Week on the strength of a 1,000-meter run victory in Eastern Michigan's Eagle/Rocket Holiday Meet, Friday, Dec. 10. She won the event in a time of 2:58.46, besting five other runners. She also ran the third leg of the 4x400-meter relay, which the Eagles also won with a time of 4:01.68.
Scarber got the nod after posting a personal-best toss of 53-00.25 in the weight throw and another great throw of 43-03.25 in the shot put. She won both of the events, sweeping the throwing events.
Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards are awarded to the most outstanding student-athlete every week. This is the first time that Elcock or Scarber have won the award.
