The sophomore sprinter's record performance earned her the nod

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Just days after Eastern Michiigan University track and field student-athlete Ashlee Abraham came .02 seconds from breaking a Bowen Field House record in the 60-meter dash, the Mid-American Conference announced that the sophomore sprinter was the recipient of the Female Track Athlete of the Week award. It was her first time winning the weekly award.

At the EMU Invitational, Abraham won the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.47 seconds, the fastest time in the MAC in that even since Feb. 2009, and the fastest time by an EMU runner since Patrice Beasley ran a 7.36 on Feb. 11, 2006. The Bowen Field House record of 7.45 is held by Akron's Latrese Taylor when she set the standard in 2000. Abraham also finished second at the Invite in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.25, an NCAA Qualifying Provisional mark, as well as a top time in the MAC this season.

Abraham and the Eagles were able to dominate the meet—which featured competitors from the University of Michigan, Siena Heights, University of Detroit and Oakland University, among other schools—winning eight of the 14 events.
