Hanna Wins 400m Dash at CMU Invite

Results

Mount Pleasant -- The men's track and field team kicked off 2011 by competing in the Central Michigan Invitational. Many Titans did well as Lesley Hanna (Exuma, Bahamas, Coakley) and Ja'Quan Patterson (Ypsilanti, MI, Ypsilanti) highlighted the group by recording first place finishes.

Hanna was the overall winner of the 400 meter dash. The senior clocked in at 50.0. Joseph Raffin (Valparaiso, IN, Chesterton) also ran well in the 400m with a third place effort (51.0). Hanna also led Detroit in the high jump with a sixth place finish. The senior cleared 6-2. Aviram Campbell (Yale, MI, Yale) also competed in the high jump. He cleared 5-8 to finish 12th.

Detroit looked good in the triple jump with a first place finish coming from Patterson. The sophomore leaped 44-9. Freshman Floyd Hoskin (Gary, IN, Bowman Academy) took third place with a distance of 43-3.25.

Four different Titans represented the team in the long jump tonight. Patterson led Detroit with a fourth place finish with a jump of 21-4.75. Not too far behind was Vushaun Landrum (Windsor, ON, Sandwich Secondary) (6th – 21-2.5) and Hoskin (20-11.75). Multi event guru Taylor Hennrick (Traverse City, MI, St. Francis) rounded out the crew with a 12th place effort (19-10.75).

Patrick Liederbach (Petoskey, MI, Petoskey) led Detroit with a fourth place finish in the mile. Liederbach clocked in at 4:23.36. Robert Radlich (Cheektowaga, NY, Cleveland Hill) and Ryan Ayala (Coopersville, MI, Coopersville) also ran at the CMU Invite. Radlich finished in eighth (4:32.37), while Ayala was 11th (4:41.00).

The 4x400 meter relay team of Vince Lefler (Midland, MI , Midland), Hanna, Chris Smalley (Gladwin, MI, Gladwin) and Raffin placed third finishing in 3:27.49.

Freshmen Eric Lewis (Eastpointe, MI, Fraser) and Jeffrey Sherman (New Hudson, MI, Catholic Central) were in action in the weight throw for Detroit. Lewis finished in seventh with a throw of 44-9. Sherman ended the day with a tenth place effort (33-4). These same two athletes competed in the shot put. Sherman took seventh (43-10.75) with Lewis at ninth (39-1.25).
