Hart Leads Detroit at Chip Invite

Results

Mount Pleasant -- Freshman Brandee Hart (Oak Park, MI, Berkley) had a busy night for Detroit at the CMU Invite. Hart competed in the 60 meter hurdles, the 60 meter dash, and the 200 meter dash.

Hart and Sharonda Vesey (Westland, MI, Romulus) ran well for Detroit in the 60 meter hurdles. Hart cracked the top five with a third place finish (9.42), while Vesey placed seventh (9.96). With the hurdles off the track Hart came back to place ninth in the 60 meter dash (8.12). Teammate Nicole Meisner (Huntington Woods, MI, Berkley) took 11th (8.13). Hart and Meisner returned to the track in the 200 meter dash. Hart ended her day with a fifth place finish (27.21), while Meisner placed ninth (27.42).

The Titans saw a one-two punch in the 800 meter run. Tressanique Hampton (Flint, MI, Southwestern Academy ) ended the race in fourth (2:27.02), while Cecilia Pope (New Baltimore, MI, Anchor Bay) was close behind in fifth (2:29.89).

Standout senior Sequoyia Calhoun (Belleville, MI, Belleville) took second place in the 400 meter dash for Detroit. Calhoun clocked in at 59.93. Calhoun also ran the anchor leg of the 4x400 meter relay team that finished second. Rounding out that team was Hampton, Kirstin Mooney (Stirling ON, St. Theresa Catholic), and Kalkstein. Mooney also competed in the 600 meter run. She finished third with a time of 1:40.23.

Whitney Rogers (Flint, MI, Hamady) had a nice night in the long jump. Rogers placed fifth with a leap of 17-6. Susan Kalkstein (New Kensington, PA, Burrell) also competed in the long jump. She took eighth place (15-6.25). Rogers and Kalkstein went back-to-back in the triple jump for fifth and sixth place. Rogers' leap of 35-6.5 moved her to fifth while Kalkstein's 35-2.5 jump landed her in sixth. 

Allyson Koglin (Port Hope, MI, Port Hope) and Stephanie Blanchard competed in the weight throw for Detroit. Koglin led the team with a seventh place effort (40-3.5), while Blanchard took 13th (30-2.75). Each athlete did much better during the shot put. Koglin reached third place with her throw of 34-11, while Blanchard rounded out the top five with a mark of 33-7.25.

Kayla Zauner (Fort Gratiot, MI, Port Huron Northern) tied for fifth place in the pole vault competition. Zauner cleared 9-0.25.
