Titans Compete at Simmons-Harvey Invite

ANN ARBOR -- The men's track and field team competed in the Simmons-Harvey Invite over the weekend. The University of Michigan hosted the meet. There was no team scoring.

Ja'Quan Patterson (Ypsilanti, MI, Ypsilanti) took second place in the long jump with a distance of 22-4.25. That leap was Patterson's second farthest of his career. Patterson and Floyd Hoskin (Gary, IN, Bowman Academy) each competed in the triple jump. Hoskin finished in fourth (44-2.5) and Patterson was right behind in fifth (44-1.25).

Eric Lewis (Eastpointe, MI, Fraser) moved into the Titan Top 10 with a weight throw toss of 48-2.75 (4th place). Lewis set a new personal record and now sits in ninth all time. Lewis joined Jeffrey Sherman (New Hudson, MI, Catholic Central) in the shot put event. Lewis was 10th (39-10.5) in the first flight, while Sherman took sixth (42-7).

Steven Ivanics (Dearborn, MI, Divine Child) and Taylor Hennrick (Traverse City, MI, St. Francis) each set personal records in the 60mH prelims. Ivanics clocked in at 8.61, while Hennrick was close behind at 8.65

Vushaun Landrum (Windsor, ON, Sandwich Secondary) and Earnest Cleary (Detroit, MI, Ferndale ) made it to the 60-meter dash finals. The teammates shared second place in the section two finals with a time of 6.99. Cleary also took second in 200-meter dash (23.37) in section five. Deonte Osayande (Detroit, MI, Winans Academy) won the race as an unattached athlete (23.19).

A trio of Titans finished together in the mile. Alex Harris (Huntington Woods, MI, Shrine) was the first Titan across the finish line (4:31.02) while Edwin Gay (Grosse Pointe, MI, GP South) (4:35.43) and Sam Felton (St. Joseph, MI, St. Joseph) 4:36.25) were close behind.

Patrick Liederbach (Petoskey, MI, Petoskey) took second place in the 3000-meter run. Liederbach nearly won the race with a time of 8:31.99. Ian Forsyth won the race with a time of 8:31.31.

Lesley Hanna (Exuma, Bahamas, Coakley) picked up another first place victory in the 400-meter dash. Hanna finished in 49.32.

Joseph Raffin (Valparaiso, IN, Chesterton) had a nice debut in the 600-meter run. Raffin won the third section in 1:24.44. Chris Smalley (Gladwin, MI, Gladwin) was close behind in second (1:25.40).
