MADISON, Wisc. (EMUEagles.com) – Vanier Joseph continued his record-setting ways, this time taking down a mark at the Wisconsin Shell Track, as the Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team finished second at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational, Saturday, Jan. 29., in Madison, Wisconsin.

The sophomore speedster eclipsed a Wisconsin indoor track record by posting a time of 7.80 seconds in the 60-meter high hurdles during the preliminary round, good for the ninth-best time in the NCAA this year. Joseph also finished fourth in the 60-meter dash. His teammate Clint Allen finished first in that event after posting a 6.73 in the prelims and a 6.79 in the final.

In the 600-meter run, freshman Brycen Spratling beat out his competition to take the top spot. Spratling's time of 1:19.16 is good for the seventh-fastest time in the event in EMU indoor track history.

Distance runner Terefe Ejigu also made a splash in the national setting by posting the 12th-fastest time in the mile this year with a time of 4:04.71 for a second-place finish.

The Eagles posted six other top-five finishes in the field with Kyle Gill placing third in the 400, Moise Frisch finishing fourth in the 800, Allen and Chris Scott finishing third and fifth, respectively, in the 200, Austin Hendrix taking fifth-place in the 3,000-meter the 4x400-meter relay team finishing third,

In the field, Andrew Meyer had a throw of 52-01.00 for second-place in the shot put and fourth-place toss of 55-00.00 in the weight throw. Kevin Lanier placed fourth in the long jump, while Max Babits' 16-04.75 was good for second place in the pole vault.

Overall, EMU, Wisconsin, Indiana State and Milwaukee competed in the event, with Wisconsin taking first place, EMU finishing second, Indiana State taking third and Milwaukee finishing last in the 16 scored events.
